I'm Nils Folmer Jørgensen, a fishing enthusiast originally from Denmark but now proudly residing in the fishing paradise of Iceland.
Known for my almost insane dedication, I've spent an extensive number of days each season pursuing my passion. Successfully blending my hobby and career, I've earned a livelihood in the tackle industry, where I design fishing gear and build brands. Internationally recognized as an angler, I boast six industrial awards in the tackle industry. Additionally, I've showcased my expertise as an author, presenter in movies and TV shows, and a sought-after speaker.
In Iceland, I've garnered a humble reputation for landing impressive fish, with 48 Icelandic salmon measuring over 100 cm caught as of 2023. I've contributed to Iceland's angling scene by designing a series of flies—such as the Autumn Hooker, Erna, Radian, and Olive Ghost that have become top performers.
While born in Denmark, my heart is anchored in Iceland, a place I consider the best in the world. Drawn by something more than just grounding, I found my true passion - fishing.
Beyond indulging in my passion and inspiring others, my goal is to exert a positive social influence on the community. I am dedicated to making a meaningful impact, fostering a sense of positivity and collaboration within the community. Furthermore, I actively support and advocate for conservation efforts and animal welfare, aiming to contribute to a better world through education and awareness.

FISHING

I'm an avid angler, fishing year-round. Typically, I embark on 4-5 saltwater trips to warmer climates, providing a delightful contrast to my summer pursuits in Iceland. Salmon fishing in Norway and Scotland holds a special place for me as it's where my fishing journey began, particularly in the realm of salmon.

Throughout the Icelandic summer, I prefer to stay local, indulging in the beauty of some of the finest Atlantic Salmon rivers globally. There's truly no better place on the planet to relish the summer. In the spring, I'm fortunate to have access to arguably the world's best wild Brown Trout, just a 45-minute journey from my home, where I've landed impressive specimens weighing nearly 40 pounds.

Born in Denmark, my upbringing involved fishing for Sea Trout in both salt and freshwater, along with Brown Trout and Salmon in the waters of Norway and Scotland. In 2000, I discovered my affinity for tropical "saltwater in my veins," prompting me to embark on at least 4-5 annual escapes to southern destinations.

CAREER

My other passion is my career, where I've played a pivotal role in establishing numerous brands worldwide. My expertise lies particularly in design, art direction, spanning products, graphics, product strategies, and the creation of marketing material to share compelling stories with you.
I've earned six prestigious industrial awards, each a testament to my commitment and reputation for seamlessly bringing projects from conception to end-users, blending creativity, innovation, and strategic thinking. My portfolio includes the design of fly rods, fly reels, fly lines, luggage, tools, waders, clothing, and essentially everything that can fit into a tackle bag.
Some of the notable brands I've contributed to include Simms, Scierra, Loop, Nautilus, Einarsson, Savage Gear, and Svendsen Sports. My roles have varied from Head Designer and Global Design & Marketing Manager to serving on boards and working on a contractual basis.See some of my work here

FLIES

While acknowledging the abundance of excellent flies in the market, I found the need to create my own patterns tailored for the delicate, gin-clear rivers I frequent in Iceland. Over the years, my collection has expanded and now includes some of the most successful flies in Iceland, recognized both through fishing log-books and strong sales in local fishing stores.

So, here it is - a lifelong journey immersed in the world of fishing that firmly took hold of me at the tender age of 11 when I acquired my first fly rod. This passion has not only led me to numerous breathtaking locations but also serves as a grounding force in my life. It's an endeavor where improvement is a constant, and the allure seems insatiable. Each day begins with excitement and determination, concluding with a sense of satisfaction. Fishing, a universal language, unites individuals across diverse backgrounds.
