The Ghost Olive, crafted in 2012, has consistently been my top-performing fly on Thingvallavatn during the streamer days. Notably, it has become a favorite among anglers nationwide, evident in the fishing logbooks and popular tackle stores that stock this fly. The Ghost Olive stands out as the best-selling streamer, often referred to as a "go-to fly."
Inspiration struck when I observed trout in Lake Thingvallavatn with Stickle Backs protruding from their mouths. In response, I designed a fly to mimic Stickle Backs, giving rise to The Ghost Olive. Fishing alongside others on Thingvallavatn, I witnessed various fly trials, with The Ghost Olive consistently delivering outstanding results.
This fly has proven to be exceptionally effective for brown and sea trout, making it an essential addition to any angler's repertoire.
