This fly, once a secret weapon until it hit the stores in 2016, caused quite a sensation. Instantly becoming a top catcher, it was responsible for landing the biggest salmon in Iceland on the Laxa i Adaldal river in that year. Furthermore, it claimed the title of the biggest fish in Iceland in 2018, measuring an impressive 111 cm on the Vididalsa river. This fly simply works like magic, demonstrating its prowess when everything else seems to fail. One memorable story highlighting its effectiveness unfolded on a July evening in the Stiflan pool on the Nes beat of Laxa i Adaldal. Two guides were fishing together – one consistently raising fish with the Radian fly, while the other had no success. The guide with the action generously offered the other guide to borrow the Radian Fly, and, lo and behold, he started hooking fish right away. Together, the two guides rose 40 salmon in one pool on a challenging river, where no other fly in the box could entice the salmon to strike. This fly must be tied with Arctic Runner; other materials have been tested, but the results are far from the same.
